Rein in the NSA, says the primary author of the Patriot Act.
What was the last straw?
“The disclosure that NSA employees were spying on their spouses … was very chilling,” GOP Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin tells the Guardian.
Sensenbrenner wants “to end the bulk collection of Americans’ communication records, protect companies who work with the government and increase the transparency of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court,” the congressman says in a press release.
He’ll soon be introducing the Uniting and Strengthening America by Fulfilling Rights and Ending Eavesdropping, Dragnet-Collection, and Online Monitoring Act – or USA Freedom Act.
