Smart weapons for 2030 may be game-changers

Unnervingly intelligent missiles being developed by the Pentagon will be “more like miniature drones than the old dumb-bombs,” Foreign Policy reports.

The weapons that could be in use by 2030 include:

  • Raytheon’s MALD-J, which will have small radar jammers and can be fired nearly 600 miles from the target
  •  The High-Speed Strike Weapon (seen above), a hypersonic ground attack missile that could be launched from thousands of miles away. It would be so fast, it could not be hit by the enemy and could take out target with kinetic energy.
