Beer-gate: Fans put arena in penalty box

When Idaho Steelhead fans poured a 7-buck beer into a 4-buck cup, they had a rude awakening: They’d been paying more to drink the same amount of brew.

But, ah, ”it’s amazing what can be done with one little video and the power of social media,” says Gwen Gibbs, who on Saturday posted a clip on YouTube (above) of what’s been going on at the CenturyLink Arena in Boise.

By Monday, the arena had responded on Facebook with a  mea culpa: ““It was recently brought to our attention that the amount of beer that fits in our large (20-oz) cups also fits in our regular (16-oz) cups. The differentiation in the size of the two cups is too small. To correct that problem, we’re purchasing new cups for the large beers that will hold 24 ounces, instead of 20,” wrote Eric Trapp, president of the arena.
