iPachyderm: Elephant takes a selfie with iPhone

A visitor to a safari park in England was busily snapping photos while driving  through the elephant exhibit when he accidentally dropped his iPhone out the window, British media report.

“I didn’t dare get out the car to get it,” says Scott Brierley, 23.

The next thing he knew, “the elephant was all over it,” says the events manager from Birmingham. “I think he thought it was food.”

Luckily for him, the elephant, a 22-year-old African named Latabe, knew better — even though it was an Apple.

Brierley drove over to one of the safari park workers, who retrieved his phone. Not only was it in working order, the curious Latabe had left him a surprise — two selfies.

“Lots of people have dropped their phones at our park, but I’ve never seen anything like this,” Andy Plumb of the West Midlands Safari Park in Bewdley tells the Daily Mail. “What a picture! We’re very proud of Latabe.”

And, uh, Scott, Latabe’s a girl. She’s just saying: Call me, maybe.
