JFK wrote this essay when he applied to Harvard in 1935.

Joseph Kennedy told Harvard his son, Jack, can be “brilliant” if he’s interested in a subject, but “is careless” and “lacks ambition” if he’s not. His letter to the dean is among 26 pages of school records digitized by the JFK Library.

His application essay (above) and test scores reflect his interests, and lack thereof.
